What is TeamSTEPPS?

TeamSTEPPS (Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety) is designed to improve communication and teamwork skills in healthcare settings—ultimately resulting in higher quality, safer care.

Scientifically rooted in more than 20 years of research, TeamSTEPPS was developed by the Department of Defense (DOD) in collaboration with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Learn more about the initiative to apply TeamSTEPPS in healthcare organizations across the country.

This series provides an introduction to the TeamSTEPPS methodology and tools, tailored to local hospitals and nursing homes.
