Patient Safety Initiatives
As part of our work as the Medicare QIO in Idaho and Washington, Qualis Health is providing in-depth assistance to a set of local hospitals and nursing homes, focusing on improving key quality measures related to:
- Lowering the usage of physical restraints
- Prevention of pressure ulcers
- Reduction of MRSA infection and transmission rates
- Prevention of surgical complications
- Proper administration of beta-blockers and ACEI/ARBs to heart failure patients
- Organizational culture change, including administering and acting upon the AHRQ Patient Safety Survey as well as improving team communication via the TeamSTEPPS methodology
While our individualized consultation is limited to the group of nursing homes and hospitals participating in our current Medicare-sponsored projects, we invite any interested organizations to use the resources posted on our website.
For up-to-date information about these projects, please see the latest edition of Qualis Health's Patient Safety Advance or subscribe to the e-newsletter.
