How the Validation Process Works
Each hospital that submits at least six patient records to the QIO Clinical Warehouse during one quarter is required to participate in the validation process. The CMS Clinical Data Abstraction Center (CDAC) will request copies of five medical records, randomly selected from the records submitted by the hospital during the previous quarter, to be re-abstracted and reviewed.

In order to pass validation, a hospital must achieve a score of 80% or above. If the score is less than 80%, the hospital has 10 business days from the date that the result was posted to submit an appeal.

Qualis Health reviews Idaho and Washington hospitals' appeals and makes the final determination. As needed, we provide education to help the hospital refine related processes in order to improve future validation scores.
